Heirloom II WIP

This work continues to contemplate and reconnect with my matrilineal history by engaging with an evolving archive consisting of evocative found textiles and keepsakes and embodied intergenerational knowledge of stitching and sewing.

Starting by assembling offcuts that remind me of both my mother’s and late grandmother's sewing practices and discarded panties, I stitched them together using threads collected over a long period of time and followed by adding small decorative ornaments associated with my maternal grandmother.
